Basic Banking Service Account

What's included

The monthly flat rate of €1.35 for our basic banking service (increasing to €1.60/month from 1 January 2025) includes the following:

• a euro-denominated payment account
• a BNP Paribas Fortis debit card with cash withdrawal and payment services in euros within the European Economic Area
• access to digital channels Easy Banking Web, Easy Banking App, and Easy Banking Phone
• execution of standing orders and direct debits
• provision of account statements via our digital channels
• a package of 36 manual transactions per year – paper transfers and cash withdrawals at the counter in Belgium

The following products and services are not available for this account: credit card, cheque, and credit facilities.

Conditions for opening a Basic Banking Service Account

To open a Basic Banking Service Account, you must meet all the following requirements:

• Not already hold a Basic Banking Service Account or be the holder of a payment account with BNP Paribas Fortis or any other bank in Belgium.
• Not have an average annual credit balance exceeding €10,000 on your other accounts (excluding rental guarantee accounts). This threshold will be adjusted annually in line with the November consumer price index.

Opening a Basic Banking Service Account with BNP Paribas Fortis

The opening of a Basic Banking Service Account can only be done in a branch or at a post office, and is not dependent on the subscription to other services.
