What is a reserved amount in relation to a credit card?

A reserved amount is a temporary hold on a certain amount on your credit card. This can be a deposit for a purchase or service (for example when hiring a vehicle) or a payment that has not yet been processed. 

Reserved amounts cannot be used for other payments while the reserve exists.
