Goodbye Payconiq, hello Wero !

Payconiq will soon be discontinued and will no longer be available. But rest assured: Wero (supported by Bancontact) is taking over. This new feature has already been integrated into Easy Banking app, enabling you to make instant payments.

Discover Wero in Easy Banking App

Send and receive money in less than 10 seconds! Make fast transactions in Belgium, France, Germany and soon in other countries across Europe. What’s more, Wero is already installed in your Easy Banking App and ready to use.

Wero, how does it work?

Wero works via QR codes and, as a new feature, also with your phone contacts list.

By scanning a QR code, you can pay in shops, online and also, for example, reimburse a friend after a meal. You can also generate your own QR code and have your friend scan it to pay you back their share.

By using your smartphone’s contacts list, you can send a payment request to one of your contacts or receive one, without needing to share your IBAN. For this, you will need to have your mobile number linked to your payment account.

How do I link my mobile number to my account?

Open Easy Banking App, go to Settings > Payments > Wero, then choose the account you want to link to your mobile number. From there, enjoy simpler payments in less than 10 seconds!

With Wero, how can I pay a contact without knowing their IBAN?

When making a payment in Easy Banking App, click on ‘Beneficiary’ and the list of your phone contacts who have linked their mobile number to their account will appear. That’s useful, right?  You can also enter the mobile number of someone who is not in your contact list. If that person has linked their mobile number to their account, you can pay them via Wero.

You can also send a payment request to a mobile number.

Can I still pay by scanning the pink QR code at my local bakery, for example?

You can continue to scan the current Payconiq sticker to make payments. Throughout 2026, Belgian retailers will switch to a new platform. This is a purely technical migration and will not affect how you use the service. The pink stickers will be replaced by a new design, but will retain the same features.

Can I still make online payments by scanning a QR code?

Yes, this is still possible. From early 2026, these payments will be processed via Bancontact. In addition, with the planned launch of Wero’s e-commerce function in the spring, online payments will become even simpler, including the option to scan a QR code on European websites. Wero’s expansion into more countries and partnerships with new banks will further enhance its position as a leading European payment solution.

Is Wero secure?

Yes, Wero is designed to ensure the security of your transactions and the protection of your personal information. Your data is safeguarded by the same high security standards as all your other online banking transactions.
