Art & History

BNP Paribas Fortis is committed to sharing its historical and cultural heritage in Belgium.

Art

BNP Paribas Fortis has an artistic heritage that has been built up over time by its various entities. The works are mainly created by Belgian artists or artists who have lived or are living in Belgium. This collection offers a snapshot of the evolution of the Belgian artistic landscape over time.

Our art policy revolves around two main pillars

To encourage contemporary creation

Supporting artists who live and work in Belgium through occasional competitions.

Discover the winners of the 2022 competition:

  • Gert Verhoeven's work located in the two patios of Montagne du Parc
  • Video on the fresco "The Ghosts of Ravenstein" in the English courtyard (support given to young artists. Gijs Milius and students of La Cambre)

To showcase our heritage

Making art accessible to a wide audience by showcasing our artistic heritage through the following channels:

  • Lending works for national and international exhibitions
  • Organising events
  • Participating in Heritage Days in Brussels
  • Publishing brochures

History

History, like art, is the very essence of a community. For two centuries, BNP Paribas Fortis has played a significant role in shaping Belgium's financial, economic, and social landscape. The bank has maintained a record of all its activities and initiatives, with the aim of sharing this legacy with the community and contributing to historical research. To this end, the archives of historical interest were donated to the national archives.
