BNP Paribas Fortis committed to digital inclusion in Belgium

As part of our pioneering role in promoting digital inclusion, we actively support the awareness campaign run by the DigitAll coalition. Together, working with all stakeholders, we’re committed to bridging the growing digital divide in Belgium. Discover how BNP Paribas Fortis takes practical action to offer a seamless digital experience to its customers.

Towards a digitally inclusive Belgium with DigitAll

The DigitAll coalition – comprising over a hundred companies, organisations and public-sector institutions – is running a new campaign this summer to combat the growing digital divide in Belgium. According to the recent 2022 digital inclusion survey by the King Baudouin Foundation, the percentage of Belgians at risk of digital exclusion increased from 40% to 46% between 2019 and 2021, highlighting the need for urgent action.

As a founding member of DigitAll, BNP Paribas Fortis is playing a key role in this initiative. Laurent Loncke, Head of Retail Banking at BNP Paribas Fortis, stresses the importance of addressing this challenge for our society: "The digital world is changing at lightning speed and is becoming increasingly important in our daily lives. Thanks to DigitAll's extensive network, we can implement impactful projects."

The awareness campaign led by DigitAll tells the poignant stories of four individuals whose lives and rights have been directly affected by the digital divide. Their stories reveal the obstacles they have faced in accessing digital solutions and illustrate the need for action to promote digital inclusion.

Practical action

But action goes beyond awareness. Our bank is committed to ensuring that no one is left behind and to bridging the digital divide in Belgium. In addition to supporting DigitAll's campaign, BNP Paribas Fortis is also implementing various initiatives to promote digital inclusion among its customers.

From September, we will be launching new initiatives to provide greater support to customers who need help with day-to-day online and mobile banking or who would like assistance from our digital coaches to get started with Easy Banking Web or Easy Banking App with peace of mind.
