Optiline

Would you like a solution for unexpected expenses? Do you want to spread your credit card expenses over time?

What is the Optiline money reserve?

Optiline is a credit facility you can link to your Visa or MasterCard credit card. Optiline allows you to pay back your credit card expenses gradually. Optiline can also be used as an extra emergency budget by transferring money from the reserve to your current account.

Advantages

  • Pay for your purchases at your own pace.
  • Always keep a balanced family budget.
  • A permanent money reserve is available at all times.
  • Charges only apply if you use the reserve.

Get full details

  • You can pay with your credit card in stores displaying the Visa/MasterCard sticker in the window or at the till.
  • You can withdraw cash using your MasterCard/Visa card from all ATMs displaying the Visa/MasterCard sticker.
  • You can ask for cash to be transferred to your current account at any time of the day, 7 days a week.

You will receive a monthly statement showing: all payments and withdrawals made with your MasterCard/Visa card during the previous month and details of the status of your cash reserve. So you can see at a glance how you can spread your payments.

You will repay at least 5,60% of the outstanding amount from your Current Account by direct debit each month, the minimum being EUR 25 (except of course if you have to repay less than EUR 25).

The amount to be repaid each month depends on the outstanding balance. You can use the credit transfer form attached to your statement if you want to repay more than 5,60%.

Protect yourself and your loved ones against all risks in the event of (temporary or permanent) total disability, death, accidental damage or theft of goods paid for with Optiline.

With AG Insurance's Optiline Protection Insurance, you link insurance to your Optiline cash reserve for a small premium. This premium varies each month depending on the outstanding balance of your credit facility.

Step 1

During the sales, you spot the sofa of your dreams. The colour's great and you love the design. Even with the discount, though, it's a lot of money – EUR 2,000 – and your budget's a bit tight right now. But you don't want to miss the opportunity, so you decide to pay with your Visa or MasterCard. Thanks to your Optiline, you don't have to pay it all back in one go. You can spread your repayments by simply drawing on your reserve. With Optiline, you don't have to postpone your purchase, just the payment!

Step 2

One month later, you receive your Visa/MasterCard statement, together with a detailed breakdown of your Optiline cash reserve. Let's say the total amount is EUR 3,530.70, consisting of the price of the sofa (EUR 2,000) and your trip to Italy two weeks ago (EUR 1,530.70). If you've chosen Optiline, this amount is automatically deducted from your available cash reserve.

Step 3

Your credit card bill is paid via Optiline. You repay 5,60% of your outstanding Optiline balance each month (minimum EUR 25) via your current account. That means you pay EUR 280 a month for 13 months, plus a final repayment of EUR 51.41. The total amount to be repaid is therefore EUR 3,691.41 [fixed debit interest: 9,50%, Optiline credit limit: EUR 5,000, APR: 9,50% (valid on 01/12/2012), duration of contract: open-ended]. In the meantime, you can continue to draw on the balance of your cash reserve. What's more, the amounts you repay are available again immediately.

If you like, you can also repay more than the suggested 5,60% or even the whole of the outstanding balance in one go.
