Borrowing money

Cash reserve

An impromptu weekend with friends, an investment that is too good to miss, etc. All occasions for which you need money but when you do not necessarily want to dip into your savings.

What is a Cash reserve?

The Cash reserve is a permanent cash reserve linked to your Current Account. Available at all times. You have nothing to pay until you actually use your Cash reserve.

Advantages

  • Practical: your cash reserve is available whenever you need it.
  • Simple: no proof or paperwork is required before you draw on your cash reserve.
  • Flexible: you can draw on the reserve using any means of payment linked to your account.

Decide the size of your overdraft in consultation with your BNP Paribas Fortis adviser. The terms and conditions and formalities are fixed at the outset.

You can draw on this amount whenever you want using any means of payment linked to your Current Account, even if you are abroad.

There is no repayment schedule. You repay your overdraft in your own time. All you have to do is pay off the debit balance on your account once every 5 years. However, for agreements relating up to a maximum of EUR 3,000, the legislature has changed the period for clearing overdrafts and now requires

you to clear any debit balance on your account every 12 months instead of every 5 years. This provision shall enter into force on 1 january 2013. This means that all existing agreements (with a debit balance) as of 1 january 2013 must be settled by 1 january 2014 at the latest.

You only pay interest on the amounts actually borrowed. The interest payable is charged to your Current Account on a quarterly basis.

Full details of your Cash reserve are given on your bank statements.
