Easy banking: how to keep it completely secure

Be a vigilant Easy banking user

Download the app from authorised stores only:

  • The Apple App Store for iPhone and iPad. The Easy banking app is available in the Belgian App Store only.
  • The Google Play Store for Android smartphones and tablets.

Carefully check whether the app manufacturer is really BNP Paribas Fortis.

Logging on to Easy banking

  • The first time you use Easy banking, you must activate your Easy banking contract by creating a profile and confirming it with an M1 signature on the card reader.
Next, select a password and sign the General Terms and Conditions. To validate this step, use the M2 signature on your card reader.
  • We'll register the details of your device the first time you use it for Easy banking. This ensures that, next time you log on, all you'll need is your password to use the app. After all, our system will identify the combination of your user profile and the device you have registered.
  • Select a secure password to log on to Easy banking. Do not write it down. Never use an obvious password, such as the name of your child or pet. Never disclose your password to anyone.
  • You can log on with just your password. Please note, however, that you can always log on with an M1 signature you've created with your card reader.
  • You can use Easy banking on various devices: smartphone, tablet etc. The first time you log on with a new device, you'll have to use an M1 signature which you create with your card reader. We'll immediately register the details of each of your devices separately. This way, the next time you log on, you only need to enter your password.

Smartphone or tablet lost or stolen?

  • Cancel your contract by phoning our Helpdesk on +32 (0)2 433 41 90 (available from 7 am to 10 pm on weekdays, and from 9 am to 5 pm on Saturdays).
  • When you phone the Helpdesk, make sure you ask them to disable the password of your stolen device.
  • Once you have a new device, you can re-download the app and reactivate your contract.

Tips

  • Select a secure password.
  • Never disclose it to anyone and never write it down.
  • Create an access code on your smartphone or tablet.

Good to know

  • You can only use Easy banking if your device has an internet connection, as Easy banking needs to connect to the bank's servers.
  • Transactions through Easy banking are as secure as those through PC banking. Moreover, all communication between the device and the bank's systems goes through secure channels, which means no one will be able to manipulate the data you've transmitted.
  • The password and other sensitive data are never stored on the device itself.
  • Easy banking developers observe national and international security standards.
  • Easy banking and its security are closely monitored by Belgian watchdogs.
  • Any transaction/transfer to a new beneficiary or any transaction that pushes your transactions above the weekly maximum of EUR 2,500 requires an M2 signature with the card reader.

Be alert to anything unexpected and any abnormalities, such as:

  • An idle screen that appears suddenly, for no apparent reason or cause.
  • An invitation to log on a second time, supposedly for security reasons; or a request to make an additional confirmation of your log-on with an M2-signature (blue button).
  • A screen appearing in a language other than the one you usually use for Easy banking.
  • Any unexpected prompts from Easy banking; prompts where you might find yourself thinking: 'Well, I've never seen anything of this sort on Easy banking'.
  • A vague suspicion that something is not quite right.
  • An invitation to provide confidential information through an unusual channel. For example, we'll never invite you to create and/or send us your PIN or electronic signature by phone or email, or even via our website.

Did you notice something suspicious when using Easy banking?

  • End your session immediately and fully exit the app. Remember to thoroughly close each session with the 'Log out' button.
  • Report the problem exclusively to our specialists by calling +32 (0)2 433 41 90 (available from 7am to 10pm on weekdays, and from 9 am to 5 pm on Saturdays). Many suspicious messages will give you a phone number, a website or an email address to which you can reply. Never respond to such invitations. Easy banking only has one number for any problems that you may encounter: +32 (0)2 433 41 90 (available from 7 am to 10 pm on weekdays, and from 9 am to 5 pm on Saturdays).
