Where can you enjoy this efficient payment system?
All member states of the European Union are part of the SEPA zone: Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, The Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain, the Czech Republic, Sweden and the UK.
In addition, some non-EU countries in Europe are also part of this payment system, including Liechtenstein, Iceland, Monaco, Norway, San Marino and Switzerland.
Transfer with ease
The SEPA credit transfer in a nutshell:
- payments throughout the entire SEPA zone;
- standardised account structure: accounts are identified by a unique account number system that consists of IBAN (International Bank Account Number) and BIC (Bank Identifier Code);
- within the SEPA zone, payments are made in the same way and with the same ease, security and execution times as a domestic payments.
Pay bills automatically
Thanks to SEPA direct debit, you can simplify the payment of electricity, water or phone bills. The owed amount is automatically transferred from your account upon receipt of invoices.

Secure card payments
SEPA includes new standards and regulations for card payments. Why? To guarantee that everyone within the SEPA zone can make card payments and withdrawals in the same user-friendly and secure way.
All BNP Paribas Fortis cards offer the Maestro function and are protected by a combination of chip and PIN code. Credit card payments, on the other hand, are secured with the CVC-code, a three digit code on the back of the card.
